Bird's Nest & Cordyceps

Bird's nest refers to the saliva secreted by some swifts of the Apodidae family and several species of swiftlets of the genus Lysimachia, mixed with other substances to build a nest. It is also called bird's nest, bird's root, and bird's nest vegetable. Bird's nest can be divided into "house bird's nest" and "cave bird's nest" according to the place where the nest is built. Cave bird's nest has different colors due to the influence of minerals, including white bird's nest, yellow bird's nest, and red bird's nest, while house bird's nest only has one color, ivory white. The so-called "blood bird's nest" on the market is said to be made from artificially cultivated house bird's nest through the "guano fumigation method".

 

Cordyceps sinensis is a Chinese medicine. There are many parasites and fungal spores attached to the surface. It is a complex of the fruiting body and the corpse of the Cordyceps sinensis (BerK.) Sacc. of the Hypocreales order, the family of Ergot, and the family of Cordyceps that parasitizes on the larvae of the family of Bat Moth. It has the effects of nourishing the kidney and lungs, stopping bleeding and reducing phlegm. It is mainly used to treat soreness of waist and knees, chronic cough and asthma, and cough with blood in sputum due to fatigue.
